The Littliest things are the Best Things!

MJ will be 5 months next week - where has time gone!  I finished nursing last week and I must admit that I do "kind of" miss it, this renewed sense of energy is so refreshing.  I can actually leave for the afternoon and not feel that I need to rush home to feed him.

MJ has a little cold thanks to the weather here - raw, rainy and then beautiful and sunny, but everyday he does something that makes me smile, makes me laugh and makes me shower him with kisses.

At 19 weeks, MJ loves to:

  1. laugh out loud
  2. make this gurgling sound which then creates bubbles
  3. drool (like crazy!)
  4. roll over on his back
  5. kick his legs up
  6. grasp EVERYTHING and put it to his mouth

He is mommy's best friend and is attached to her at the hip - she never leaves home without him!

We're on the move again!

Hk

Dear Readers,

We are moving again, but this time we are on our way to Hong Kong!  The last time I was there was for the Handover.  With the news of our move, I am really quite sad to leave London for it has become home and will always hold a very special place in our hearts as our first was born here.  As for New Yorkshire Pudding - I am not sure yet what to do with it because it's been so much fun.  Would love suggestions for a new name that incorporates perhaps NYC and Hong Kong? Was thinking of NYC Bao - thoughts?

Anyways, we leave at the end of the month, but fear not, I will keep on posting!

Delia's How to Cheat at Cooking

Delias_2

This was a birthday gift from a dear friend who knew I needed all the short cuts to cooking after having MJ.  The thought of even getting back into the kitchen was scary for I envisioned MJ in one arm and a spatula in the other - frightening!  The best part of this book though is that it sources her ingredients for us so you don't have to be like Martha and have your own herb garden growing in your backyard.  Instead Delia tells you to go Waitrose for delicious potatoes or to just use the frozen ones from Tesco -  ahh, language for the common folk - finally!

Delia's How to Cheat at Cooking at Waterstones is now on sale for 12 GBP- worth it!

Pissarro's in Chiswick

Pissarro

Imagine 12 of us - 3 kids under age 5 and one infant (ours of course still in the pram) for brunch.  Yes, it was chaotic, but we were at Pissarro's along the river so how bad could it be?  It's set in this very residential part of Chiswick.  It was our first time there so I had no clue what to expect, but I had heard good things about dining in the area.

Outside_2

The sun shown through for most of our 2-3 hour affair where we had traditonal English brunch of a roast and yorkshire pudding.  We had a window seat and a view of the Thames river.  I must admit though they could have beautified the river banks a it more - brown dirt doesn't quite cut it.  The one nice thing though is that you can work off the meal afterwards along the river!

Child friendly? Absolutely! and would return? Yes! but it's quite a far cab trip from NW.

The Gardens of Babylon

Babylon

When my brother came to visit us en route back to NYC from India, we thought this would be the perfect time to try out our babysitter. Granted she's also our night nanny, but still - could I be away from him that long?

Needless to say, we booked her and she arrived promptly at 6pm.  We had already bathed the little guy and out the door we went to have dinner at Babylon in Kensington.

I could not help but keep my mobile on the dinner table. Yes, it was rude - I admit it, but come on - first night out without MJ? GIVEMEABREAK! Anyways, Babylon was very cool - good, fresh food.  I loved my risotto and my brother loved his pork chops.  The atmosphere was comfortable, clean and fresh.  Service was excellent.  After dinner we snuck downstairs to the rooftop gardens which was so gorgeous! They host bbqs during the summer for large groups and it just looks like a lovely way to spend a warm friday evening after work with close friends.
